Tamil Nadu is the southern-most Indian state, surrounded by Andhra Pradesh on the north, Karnataka & Kerala on the west, Indian Ocean on the south, and Bay of Bengal on the east. Tamil Nadu is among the most industrialised states in the country.

The state is a major producer of fruits (such as Banana, Mango, Papaya, Sapota, Watermelon); vegetables (such as Tapioca, Tomato, Brinjal, Beans, Cabbage, Ladyfinger) and spices (such as Garlic, Turmeric, Ginger, Tamarind and Chillies). Some of the major plantation crops cultivated in the state include Tea, Coffee and Cashew, and the leading cash crops of the state are Cotton, Sugarcane and Oilseeds
