Date Extended for Food Processing Unit Subsidy Scheme by Ministry of Food Processing Industries

Ministry had formerly introduced the Scheme, Creation of processing and preservation capacities and Modernization/ expansion of existing food processing units with a view to increasing the level of processing, value addition leading to reduction of wastage. Setting up of new units and modernization/ expansion of existing units is covered under the scheme. This Scheme is under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) is still exist and having great response from Promoters/ Investors & Startup seekers from all around the corner of India.


A Great Initiative of Central Government by introducing such Scheme is providing big boost to the growth of food processing sector in the country and also helping in providing better returns to farmers. It is a big step towards doubling of farmer’s income, creating huge employment opportunities especially in the rural areas, reducing wastage of agricultural produce, increasing the processing level and enhancing the export of the processed foods.


This scheme is the major channel to the growth of difficult areas i.e. North Eastern States, Himalayan states (Himachal Pradesh, J&K & Uttarakhand) and State Notified ITDP areas and Islands as MoFPI is providing assistance 50% of the eligible project cost subject to a maximum of Rs. 5.00 crore in such areas.


The Scheme is more beneficiary for SC/ST Category Promoters/ Investors as MoFPI is providing same assistance to the SC/ST Category Promoters/ Investors as providing in difficult areas. In addition to this SC/ST category Promoters/Investors can set up there unit outside Mega Food Park/ Agro Processing Cluster and designated Food Park, anywhere in India on their Private Land, whereas rather than the SC/ST category Promoters/Investors will have to setup their unit in Mega Food Park/ Agro Processing Cluster and designated Food Park.


In all General areas rather than the above mentioned difficult areas will have assistance 35% of the eligible project cost subject to a maximum of Rs. 5.00 crore. The proposals for creation/ expansion/ modernization of food processing & preservation units will be considered in Mega Food Parks (MFPs), Agro-processing Clusters assisted by the Ministry and in designated food parks notified by the Ministry from time to time.


Recently MoFPI extended the last date for submission of Proposal. Earlier the last date for submission of Proposal/Expression of Interest was 30/09/2019, which is extended by 31/12/2019. All states are filling their reserved quotas quickly and few projects are left in total quota of Ministry.
