Scenario of State of Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh, with an area of 83,743 sq km, is the largest state in the Northeast of India. Its diverse topography offers opportunities for non-timber based industries such as bamboo, cane and medicinal plants. Ecological conditions of Arunachal Pradesh are congenial for the growth of horticulture. With more than 60% of the population dependent on agriculture, the state offers enterprising and skilled farmers. In spite of the Hilly Terrain, the State has 3 Food Processing Parks.

State  is the largest producer of  Kiwi Fruit in India and having rich production of Mandrin Orange. Arunachal Pradesh is also known for quality Pineapple and Banana production. State has vast potential  to process farmer’s produce.

Total of eight railway lines have been sanctioned by the ministry of railways connecting various cities of the state.

  • Due to its topography, the state has varied agro-climatic conditions suitable for horticulture of flowers and aromatic and medicinal plants.

  • State has identified the Food Processing Sector as a potential sector, as the Gov. of Arunachal Pradesh introduced a dedicated single window clearance system with time bound factor and providing some incentives for Food Processing Units.

  • Arunachal Pradesh has 12 industrial estates located in different districts and spread over a total area of 51.9 hectare. These industrial estates have been developed in land-areas ranging from 4,540 to 202,342.8 square metres, with the primary objective of growth and development of small scale industries.

Economic Snapshot

  • Arunachal Pradesh recorded US$ 1.33 Million worth of exports in 2019 (April-Dec).

  • According to the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT), during April 2000 to June 2019, FDI inflows in the state totaled to US$ 122 million.

  • At current prices, the Gross State Domestic Product of Arunachal Pradesh reached Rs 293.51 lakh crore (US$ 4.19 billion) in 2018- 19 and Rs 280.52 lakh crore (US$ 4.01 billion) in 2019-20.

  • he state’s GSDP (in Rs) increased at a compound annual growth rate of 12.33 per cent between 2011-12 and 2019-20.

  • The Per Capita Net State Domestic Product at current prices (2011-12) for the year 2017-18 was INR 1.28 Lakh with the growth of 10.2%.
